I thought the best way to start off was to decide on some possible contemporary "pin-up" women, and research a little bit about them and their achievements, and some of their more empowering statements that I could use on my cards.
These are the women I have found that I think would be featured on my cards, however I want to research into each one individually to see if I think they are enough of an inspiration to feature on these cards, or whether I should only choose a few women rather than the amount I have at the moment, this will help me cut them down.
I asked my peers and friends of women they thought were inspirational, and their responses were Patti Smith, Beyonce, Laverne Cox, Michelle Obama, Malala Yousafzai, Jessica Ennis, Taylor Swift, J K Rowling, Cara Delevingne and the Queen herself. One of my friends made an excellent point that Miley Cyrus got a homeless man to make a speech, and people thought this was a weird thing to do, however if Beyonce had done exactly the same, people would love her for it. So people's general opinion of people has a major impact on how you see the great things they do, as Miley Cyrus has done many controversial things, and isn't seen as much of a role model, and this makes the good things that she does do not received as well as somebody who is received well by the public such as Beyonce, as she isn't as controversial.

Initially I had over 30 women to research and include, however this task was taking much longer than I had initially anticipated, so part way through researching these women I severally cut down on the amount of women I would be researching, briefly looking them up to see if they had done something noticeably significant, and if I couldn't see this quite quickly then I discarded them. This saved me a lot of time in cutting them down later, as I simply didn't have enough time to research into all the women I had initially planned to.
I will then use the quotes I have gathered for each woman and include them on the backs of playing cards artfully. I think I will need to research more into the back designs of playing cards before I start designing anything though, so that I have more ideas and a better understanding of the kind of style that is generally used, and how to defy this.
