Following on from researching existing website layouts and what kind of information they include, I created some initial sketches for the digital platform, focusing on the website. This is to get down what the the general aesthetic and what things should be included in the website, which will then be applied to other platforms such as an app or interactive boards outside the travel agency shop itself.
I am still unsure as to whether this is the most relevant approach to go down, as the essay doesn't look as digital editorial design, but getting some ideas down might create a more solid idea of whether this could work or not.
It is important to know what the public, not just creatives, would use travel websites for, what they expect from a travel website, and what the idea website would look like and include. Therefore a questionnaire has been produced including things that I want to know in order to design the best website. This questionnaire will be created on survey monkey and uploaded to my Facebook page, to get a wide range of responses due to the range of people on Facebook.
Questionnaire questions:
1. Should the photographs be big or small, and should there be a lot or little amount of them?
2. Should the information be shown at once, or should only key information be shown with the option to show more in more depth?
3. Should the information be in full sentences or bullet points? Why?
4. Should the photographs or the information be the focus?
5. Should there be a descriptive piece to accompany the holiday - something that paints a picture of life on the holiday? If yes, how long should it be?
6. What are the top 5 things that should be included in a holiday booking website? eg. photographs, ratings, reviews, about the company?
7. What should the tone of voice be, friendly or formal?
8. What would you expect to get from a holiday booking website such as Jet2 Holidays, Thomas Cook, secret escapes etc?
